I am proud to announce that I am selected as one of the 15 finalists of the contest 'Schilderij van het jaar 2015'/ "Painting of the year 2015 Belgium with my painting "Do you think it would be nice to invite a lonesome stranger for dinner ", it will be exhibited in the Coda Museum in Apeldoorn Netherlands ,the winner will be selected by the professional jury end of this month, fingers crossed, more info http://www.schilderijvanhetjaar.be/finalisten

It was such a surprise when I opened my mailbox this week and found some snailmail in it ! Now that everything goes digital it gives a special feeling to receive post on 'the old fashion way' . A few months ago I was also the lucky one to receive one of Caatjes special cards ,

As I had just finished a drawing it felt like it was obvious I would surprise Caatje with it to thank her !
I enjoyed to give the envelope a personal touch .

The start of autumn and the garden is already filled with a lot of mushrooms , nature is so beautiful and a reason to make a small illustration in my artjournal .

My painting "Do you think it would be nice to invite a lonesome stranger for dinner ?" (oil on canvas 60x70cm) is selected to be published in the book "Langs wegen van licht" - Jean-Paul van der Poorten

De publicatie toont hoe hedendaagse kunstenaars het thema van het licht interpreteren. Via de verschillende benaderingswijze komt de artistieke identiteit van elke kunstenaar en het specifieke karakter van zijn/haar werk op het voorplan. Het boek wordt opgebouwd rond een suite gedichten van Firmin van der Poorten waarin de thematiek van het licht centraal staat. Componist Philippe Sorgeloos schreef hierbij een aantal muzikale impressies die op de boekpresentatie zullen worden uitgevoerd.
Wie spreekt over licht, spreekt over het ongrijpbare en onbegrensde, het vluchtige en vergankelijke, het mystieke en ondefinieerbare , het mysterie van leven en dood. Wie spreekt over licht, spreekt over het licht in het hart van de mens, over de binnenwereld en zijn zoektocht naar vrijheid en ruimte, geluk en levensvervulling .

And there it is, my little contribution painting for the penpalpaintingexchange project 2015 . It's a small painting 10x10 cm (3,937inch) , oil on canvas , I painted my "loosing her way" girl in the wood .. it is my third time I join this project from the http://www.penpalpaintingexchange.com and it is soooo exciting waiting who's painting I will receive this time , I 've now two new friends due to the previous participations i.e. Teresa Celemin from New York , you can find out more about her work here http://www.teresacelemin.com and the lovely Kathy Hytten from Greensboro NC , both adorable ladies !

A little 'sidekick project" besides my painting and drawing .

I started to knit this gilet to be prepared for the colder evenings to come , it is one of my little sidekicks I love to do once in a while besides painting ,drawing,reading books  ,my pinao and my guitar ..

It symbolizes the tragedy of feeling "lost" for  all the refugees arriving in Europe .

Ladybug, portrait of a lady and Fairytales in my sketchbook.

Awaiting the oilpaint to dry  on my canvas I love to make these little 'in betweens' in my sketchbook , nothing serious has to happen just playing with my imagination and inspiration , small things great happiness !

Owl drawings and painting, mixed media in my Global Art Sketchbook.

It's true there was a period everybody gave me an Owl and really I don't know why ..I was not collecting them at all (did I ?)  , but from one came another and ..another ...  and now I have a box filled with Owls waiting for a nice place in my Studio , yes indeed I do love them because they have something mysterious .. I lately saw a white Owl flying just in front of my car ...
But let's be honnest ,we cannot deny that they are very beautiful !
